a creative science illustration and graphic design studio

We live in an environment that is filled with visual elements. In our 21st-century society, communication is becoming more visually focused and visual culture has become an important part of our cultural identity. Images have become an important tool for not only presenting facts and numbers, but to express feelings and emotions.

In this transient high-speed world, visual language has become an integral part of the way we communicate with each other and connect to our audience.
In Celline (pronounced as suh-leen), we help you communicate your work via powerful visuals and leave a memorable impact on your audience.

” There is more to visual communications than simply making an image for the eyes to perceive, it has to accommodate the mind of the person being communicated to. That is to say you are not merely making something to be perceived when visually communicating, you are fundamentally making something to be thought about.” Aldous Huxley, 1894 –1963

Hi,

I’m Behnoush, a pharmaceutical scientist working at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in Boston. In my day job, which I love very much, I work on early-stage drug discovery projects for diseases with unmet medical needs such as pediatric cancers or infectious diseases. I use techniques such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy to resolve and visualize the structure of proteins and drug targets. This brings me to my second interest.

As a kid I was always drawn to visual storytelling. My first exposure to illustrations which left a lasting impact on me was my favorite childhood book “The Little Prince” by Antione de Saint-Exupéry which contains original watercolor paintings done by the author himself. That simple painting of a boa constrictor swallowing an elephant is forever stuck with me.

As I grew up, I chose life sciences and research as my major and career but illustration and other forms of visual storytelling such as cinema and photography remained a passion.

Now, science illustration and graphic design has given me the space to combine all my interests. I believe using proper graphics and visual tools can help us communicate the messages more effectively and leave a lasting and positive impression on the audience. I count on your feedback to improve my work so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
I like coffee, cameras, everything made by Stanley Kubrick and Christopher Nolan, sourdough bread, and rainy days.

Boa constrictor swallowing an elephant by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry appeared in his celebrated work The Little Prince

Translation of the text: My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. I drew the inside of a boa constrictor, so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained.
